Franklin is the little town time forgot. It still retains that special village atmosphere that is so hard to find - not over developed, not spoiled by tourism, and as pretty as a picture resting on the banks of the beautiful Huon River.

There are restaurants, antique and craft shops to visit, and of course the world famous Wooden Boat Centre. The main street boasts many faithfully restored timber buildings, some featuring huon pine.
